Sihanoukville to Kampot

After being hit by food poisoning… It was a welcome day of relaxing on the beaches of Sihanoukville. We’ve gone to Otres beach on our rental scooters and where persuaded into getting our nails done for 2$. I must say, two dollars well spend!

My toenails never looked that good 😉

For 2$

Then we had a nice night out with some German \ South-African couple we met in Siem Reap.

I just finished my handicraft, my Dane motorcycle bag has failed again, this time no need to call on warranty for the 3rd time… I’ll fix it myself :)

A job worth doing is worth doing well!

Now it’s the last stop before the capital.. Kampot. The Sihanoukville at a river instead of near the sea. It’s like the Lauwers oog of Holland instead of Harlingen. 😉

After Phnom Penh (exit point for Stephen) I’m traveling back up north back to Siem Reap to meetup with someone dear and delayed… Before making my way back to Bangkok on the 9th of March where my flight leaves for Western Australia!!!! Lollieees… Put a shrimp on the Barbie! And put a beer in the freezah! Stralya… Here we come!

Koh Rong

Another tropical island… This time in Cambodia. This island is in comparison to Koh Tao (Thailand) way less developed.

Poverty is everywhere, between all the tourists there are kids playing with rocks and garbage because they haven’t got anything better to do and no money for toys.

The beach although nice and white with palm trees is littered with garbage. Only the most expensive resorts have Cambodians on 24/7 beach cleaning service.

The public beach is basically a garbage dump :(

Although there are a few nice incentives like beach cleanups and such, still it doesn’t quite cut it.

I haven’t updated in a few days, yesterday I wasn’t in the position to do so… Both Stephen, me and 14 others got a little goodbye present from restaurant the three brothers in Koh Rong… Food poisoning!

Goodbye Koh Rong

We are back in mainland Cambodia (Sihanoukville)

Today we are deciding where to go next or stay in Sihanoukville for another day since we didn’t really see anything yesterday.

Koh Rong was nice except for the food hehe…

Ankor Wat in Siem Reap

Hostels and elephants pants is definitely my thing… Not so much a thing for Stephen who got tired from the party hostel in one night, we decided to book a hotel for the next night, when splitting the costs difference is only minimal.

18 February…
The temples in Ankor Wat where really cool!

Tomb raider!

It was a lot of hassle and loads of walking to get around in Ankor. Luckily we had Mr. Vet our trusty tuk tuk driver who picked us up after every temple.

Personally I think the best temple was the last temple. Lesser known with the tourists and that’s why we had the place   to ourselves, the peace and relaxing atmosphere made me realize how nice and spiritual this place really is.

In the evening we met some German and a South African which we hanged out with until late in the evening. We didn’t feel like heading out in the main attractions in Pub Street so we made our own party….

Looks like a bar...

Looks like a bar right???

Its Mr Boys tuk tuk bar

It’s just a tuk tuk with booze and a sound system!!!

The only problem was that there are 6 competitors who also played music…
Best clashes all over the place, after a few hours my ears couldn’t handle it any more and we went home.

Today we kind of overslept but we are still good to go for a overnight bus to Sihanoukville on the coast of Cambodia.

My plan is to stick around in Cambodia until the 9th of March and then go to Perth via Bangkok and Singapore.

But hey… I might change my mind 😉

Stuck in Aranya Prathet

Helloooo all,

We are kind of stuck in Aranya Prathet. The last “city” before the border with Cambodia. There is actually no English speaking person in the whole town and we seem to be the only two tourists.

We decided that we should eat something and we had two personal waitresses and 3 barkeeper’s…

Tonight we are the only two people on the dancefloor…

We are going to dance in “Fusion” style…

Hope we reach Cambodia tomorrow.. For now it’s a quick beer maybe a dance and then a good sleep, don’t sleep though the alarm tomorrow and cross the border.
